Rutgers University officially announced Bristol native and former Stony Brook coach Steve Pikiell as the program’s next men’s basketball head coach. A press conference was held at the Rutgers Athletic Center to formally introduce Pikiell.
“In order to achieve you must believe,” Pikiell said at the conference. “I believe in Rutgers and I believe they gave me a chance, and I don’t let people down. I believe that we will dance.
At the press conference, Pikiell showed incredible enthusiasm for joining the Rutgers community and having the opportunity to repair the crippled program.
“This university has all the ingredients to be great,” Pikiell said. “It’s a great state. It’s a great university. It’s the greatest conference in the country. And what I’ve found in a short period of time, it’s great people.”
The Rutgers administration was also excited to have Pikiell aboard to help out the basketball program.
