On October 19, 2025 scholar athletes from Bristol’s three high schools hosted the inaugural Team Bristol 5K at Bristol Eastern High School. The event was part of a fundraising campaign to support Team Impact, a national organization founded by BSHOF Inductee and former Bristol Eastern and Tufts football captain Jay Calnan. Started a little over a decade ago, Team Impact matches children with life-threatening or debilitating illnesses with collegiate athlete teams, providing them with the social and emotional benefits of sports. To date, over 4,000 youth have been paired with college teams as part of Team Impact’s mission.
BSHOF Directors Dave Mills and Mark Ziogas worked with the Fiondella Leadership Council program athletes to organize the event in conjunction with Team Impact’s national All In 5K initiative. The Bristol Sports Hall of Fame initiated “Team Bristol” as part of the Fiondella Leadership Council to teach high school student athletes how leadership involves community and “giving back.”
