He played basketball at Memorial Boulevard School and earned Edgewood Little League all-star honors. He played four years of basketball and competed in three track seasons at Bristol Eastern. He won all-city, all conference honors and was twice an All-State basketball player. His 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams were city champions and record-holders. He played one year of basketball at Northfield Mt. Herman before Boston University between  1976-1980. He was voted the most improved player for Boston in 1979.

He has worked as a physical therapist since 1982 and has been featured in several nationally published bulletins of the American Physical Therapy Association for his work with the homeless in NYC, with Mother Theresa’s Home for the Dying Destitutes in Calcutta and with victims of the war in Somalia, Africa. He was awarded the BU Alumni Association Award for Humanitarian Efforts in 1993 and honored by the Bristol Tramps in 2016.
