Dean Pecevich played baseball for the Dodgers in the Forestville Little League between 1971 and 1973. In his last season, his team posted an unbeaten 25-0 record. He also struck out 18 consecutive batters in a six inning Little League game. His elementary Stafford School Basketball team went 10-0. He went on to play sports at Bristol Eastern as a member of the class of 1979. He was a standout multi-sport athlete and received All-State honors his senior seasons in both football and baseball, while also a member of the school’s basketball team.
As quarterback for the Lancers, he passed for 3,024 career yards, which is among the Top 10 for Bristol public high school quarterbacks. His baseball batting average his junior and senior seasons were .450 and .426, respectively. He went on to play football at the University of Massachusetts, where he earned three varsity letters between 1980 and 1982. He was a three year starting quarterback for UMass and won two Dr. Edward Anderson MVP trophies given to the most valuable player for the UMass vs Holy Cross game.
