A 1960 graduate of Bristol Eastern, he was a standout defensive infielder in baseball at Stafford School, Bristol High and Bristol Eastern while also playing in the Pony League and for the Bristol American Legion team.

He coached for 24 seasons in the Thomas M. Monahan Senior Baseball League and one year of Bristol American Legion baseball. He coached at Northwestern Regional High School for 26 years.  He was coach of the 1990 Connecticut all-star baseball team as well as multiple district teams.

He was the recipient of the CIAC’s Outstanding Baseball Coach of the Year Award in 1987 and was a state nominee for National High School Coach of the Year honors.

He also worked as an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds.
