Dr. James F. “Doc” Gilhuly, a Life Member of Seicheprey Post 2 Bristol American Legion, served as manager of its baseball team for four decades.
During this time, he was a friend and confidant to hundreds of young American Legion baseball players.
Prior to coming to Bristol in 1960, he managed the New Haven Post 47 squad for eight seasons.
Since his arrival here, Bristol earned eight of its 12 state championships, the most ever won by a Connecticut American Legion baseball Program.
Gilhuly, a graduate of National College of Natureopathic Physicians in Chicago, has followed the adult lives of his former players with great interest and support.
An avid lover of the “National Pastime”, he is without question, “Mr. Bristol American Legion Baseball.”
In 2014 he was inducted into the inaugural class of the State American Legion Baseball “Hall of Fame”.
