A two-term mayor in the 1970s, Frank grew up in Bristol, participating in a variety of athletics during his younger years, including baseball, basketball, football, swimming and ping pong, the later of which he won several local and two state Boys Club titles.
In later years as a basketball coach, Frank experienced many championship seasons at both St. Anthony’s Grammar and High Schools.
His parochial school quintets registered 169 wins and only 14 losses in recording 16 league and tournament championships.
The high school team he coached in the 1950s and 1960s scored 287 wins against 79 losses. Frank’s teams reached the state CIAC final on four occasions and twice won the New England Small School Basketball Championships.
