Gene LeBlanc became involved with the Bristol Soap Box Derby and the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, OH in 1985 when his son, Casey, started racing.
He served as president of the Bristol organization for three years and through the years he held a number of positions and titles with the local group. One of his finest accomplishments was bringing the Special Division to Bristol. He became assistant regional director for New England in 1995 and took over the reins as regional director for CT, N.Y. and Southern Mass. in 2002. Working with him was his daughter, Carleigh, World Rally Super Stock Champion in 1999, who became his assistant and is now the first female Assistant Regional Director in Akron, Ohio.
Gene stepped down as regional director in 2010 to help revitalize the Bristol Soap Box Derby.
