Gretchen Chiasson was a three-sport athlete in high school and college and continued to play softball well into her adult life. She began her career playing softball and basketball at St. Matthew School. She was a four-year starter in basketball and softball at St. Paul and played three years of soccer where she twice earned All Hartford County Conference honors. She was also all HCC in her senior year of basketball. She continued to play all three sports at Salve Regina College and was named the Salve Regina Woman Athlete of the year in 1986. She went on to play for ten years on the CT Bombers Slow Pitch softball team that won Regional B honors in 1992, was second place in the National A Tourney in 1995, were NIT Champs, and placed seventh in the World Series of Slow Pitch Softball in 1996.  She coached JV Soccer, JV Basketball and Varsity Softball at St. Paul and led the Falcons to a Northwest Conference title in softball.
