A Hartford native, along with his wife Joan, they raised their family here and he became an exceptional community volunteer. Since joining the BSHOF Board in 2005 he’s been known as one of the BSHOF’s most active volunteers, having received the 2008 Bristol Sports Hall of Fame Joe McGinn Award. His initial involvement in local sports was Bristol Midget Football, As it’s Vice-President he led Bristol into Pop Warner Football. He also led the fundraising efforts for new uniforms and equipment for the newly named “Bristol Bulldogs”.
At Edgewood Little League he served as minor league coordinator, player agent and vice-president of baseball operations. He also raised funds for an additional field for Forestville, earning him the 2015 FLL volunteer of the year award.
He served many duties for the Eastern Regional Tournament. In 2011, he was chosen the Chuck McCarthy Award recipient by the Bristol Tramps. In 2018, he helped raise the funding to totally renovating Forestville’s aging Fieldhouse.
Community service included being a founding member of the Bristol Ethics Commission, The Robert S. Watson, Sr. Scholarship Committee, and the Hartford Public Sports Hall of Fame. His forte growing up was basketball, and he served as captain of the 1959 Hartford Public High Freshman team. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1968.
This past October 9, 2022 he was inducted into the Hartford Public Atheletic Hall of Fame.
