Harry M. Peters, Jr. was one of Bristol High School’s talented multi-sports athletes from the mid1950s. He was co-captain of basketball and also excelled in soccer, baseball. He captured all-state honorable mention in basketball his senior year.
During his time at the school, Bristol High generally captured league titles. He was also a standout on American Legion state championship teams in 1950, 1951 and 1952. At the University of Bridgeport, he captained both the basketball and baseball teams. In 1954 the basketball team won the NAIA New England Championship and in 1957, captured the Tri-State League title.
Peters averaged 26.3 points a game to lead the league and became an All-New England selection that year. He later coached varsity soccer, basketball and baseball at St. Anthony’s High School.
Following his stay at the school, he went on to earn numerous titles and coaching honors while spending 36 years in education and 21 as a teacher, coach and athletic director.
