The Bristol Press once wrote that Harry Peters, Sr. put Bristol on the sports map with his duckpin bowling accomplishments. He was the No. 1-ranked bowler in 1951 when he had the high­est average in the country based on sanctioned league and tournament play.

He won numerous national, regional, state and local championships, held numerous world records and had a tournament named in his honor.

Among the titles he won were four Dixie Classic Tournaments and a U. S. Open win, the top tournaments in the country each year.

Peters joined the elite of Connecticut’s bowlers as a member of the famed Blue Ribbon team which included some of the best ever in the sport at the time.

Peters was anchorman for the Blue Ribbons because he was his best under pressure He has been inducted into both the Connecticut Duckpin Bowling Hall of Fame and National Duckpin Hall of Fame.
