A Bristol native, Jennifer Hadley Houle played volleyball, basketball and softball for Bristol Eastern as a member of the Class of 1998. She earned multiple All-State honors in both volleyball and softball. The Lancers were Class L runners-up in both softball and volleyball in 1996. Led by Jen’s outstanding pitching, Eastern won the Class L State Championship in softball in 1997. She had a career ERA of 0.39 at Eastern with 982 strikeouts. She also played on two summer travel teams in the Pony Nationals Championship for the Wallingford Tradition, in both 1998 and 1999.

Jen went on to play four years of softball at UMass, where she ranked second in Division I softball with an ERA of .083 in 2002. Jen earned Atlantic-10 Pitcher of the Year and All-Conference honors in 2001. She was named to the 2002 All-American team and also earned Verizon Academic All-American honors in the same year. UMass won Atlantic-10 championships all four years of her years there.
