Back To Inductee List

Leon Breen was the owner of Breen Oil in Bristol, along with his wife, Augusta “Gussie” (Stockman) Breen. They became longtime benefactors of youth baseball here.

This included the Seicheprey Post 2 American Legion team, the most successful such program in the state, as well as Little League Baseball in Bristol. These Little Leagues were Forestville, McCabe-Waters and Edgewood.

The couple were among the founders and key individuals when it came to the latter circuit, and the main playing field at Edgewood is named in their honor. Breen Field is seen on national TV each August when the annual Eastern Regional Little League regionals are held there.

Teams from this regional tournament then go to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

When Leon Breen died, his wife ran the oil business and continued to financially support the local youth baseball until her passing.

Scott Lodge, President of the Bristol Little League Baseball, accepted on behalf of the Breen family.
