Maryellen Holden began her involvement in sports with Little League. She’s a longtime volunteer who is the CT.5 Little League District Administrator. She has served as secretary of the Forestville Little League and has been active with the Eastern Regional Little League and its annual tournament for over 20 years.
She has served on its Director’s Advisory Board and became an “Aunt” for the Team Aunt Urban Initiative Jamboree in 2005. She supervised the Regional Little League’s concession stand for many years and has been active with the Challenger Fun Day at the Eastern Regional complex.
She joined the Bristol Tramps Committee in 2001 and is a recipient of its Lydia Jabs Bailey Award. She currently is the MC at the organization’s annual dinner. Her lengthy civic-minded work goes far beyond what she does for the local sports community.
In 2014 Maryellen became the first woman to receive Peter J. McGovern Distinguished Service Award from Little League.
In 2018 Maryellen was awarded the John Wentworth Good Sport Award by the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance at the 77th annual Gold Key Dinner.
