A 1972 graduate at Bristol Eastern, he was a captain of the school’s football team his senior year and a captain in track & field during both his junior and senior seasons. He was named All-CCIL center in the fall of 1971 and went on to play in the Nutmeg Bowl as a starter.
He later played for Central Connecticut State College where he earned All-New England first team honors in football. He was a Kodak All-American selection in 1974 and won the school’s Gladstone Award as the most outstanding senior athlete.
He went on to coach at St. Paul, Farmington High and Bristol Central during the late 1970s to early 1980s. He coached Farmington to a league title and the 1977 St. Paul team he mentored reached the state finals.
