As a member of the Bristol Boys and Girls Club’s OM’s for nearly half a century and a City of Bristol Parks Commissioner for more than 20 years, Morris (Morrie) Laviero has helped to shape the athletic futures of the youth of Bristol for his entire adult life. A product of the West End and a graduate of Park Street School, Morrie attended St. Anthony High School, where he played soccer, basketball and baseball. He was captain of the legendary St. Anthony’s basketball team that was runner up in the CIAC State Tournament in 1960. He was the Bristol Boys Club Boy of the Year in 1958 and grew up playing and later coaching at the Boys Club as well as at St. Anthony’s.

A 50 plus year supporter of the Boys and Girls Club and a past president of the OM’s, he was instrumental in the drive to build the new BBGC facility on West Street. He is a former Board Director of the Bristol Hospital and a current Bristol Public Works board member and he served in the National Guard for 6 years.
