A Bristol native, Paul Eschner graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School in the mid 1930’s before going to New Britain Trade School.
He was a fast-pitch softball pitcher whose Bristol Brass teams won seven league titles between 1949-1959. He also pitched for the Southington PNA, and led the team to eight championships between 1948-1965. He played softball for 24 years, compiling a record of 490 wins and 100 losses with 15 no-hitters.
He was MVP in the Bristol Industrial League Division “A” on seven occasions, MVP in the Plainville Town Softball League in 1955, the New Britain City League in 1957 and Bristol Brass Men’s League in 1965.
He was inducted into the Connecticut Amateur Association’s Softball Hall of Fame in 1984.
