Paul LaFleur was educated at St. Joseph School, Bristol High and CCSU. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force as Communications Analyst. After returning home, he went on to serve the Bristol American Legion for over 40 years as either the assistant or general manager of its baseball program.

The American Legion teams he’s been a part of have captured 28 Zone One titles, seven state championships and four New England crowns leading to four World Series appearances. He has been a part of over 1,000 victories.

He received the 2001 State Contributor Award from the CT American Legion for serving both the Bristol and CT American Legion programs in different capacities. The highlights of his volunteering with the American Legion have been the 1974 World Series appearance (Bristol’s first) and working with the late Dr. James F. Gilhuly, a fellow BSHOF inductee, for 34 years. He remains active with the American Legion and its baseball program with his 2013 induction.

In 2018 he was inducted into the American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame where he joins fellow Bristol Sports Hall of Fame inductees, Fran Mullins and James “Doc” Gilhuly.
