A Bristol native, Phil Mannarino played baseball in the McCabe-Waters Little League and the Pony League, and at St. Anthony’s grammar school. He went on to play baseball, basketball and soccer at St. Anthony’s High School and captained all three sports in his senior year of 1962-63.
He was a member of the McCabe-Waters state finalist all star team in 1957 and the St. Anthony’s state semi-finalist basketball team in 1963 as well as a member of two state championship American Legion baseball teams, in both 1962 and 1964.
He later played baseball at Central Connecticut State College where he graduated in 1968. He played in the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League and was a volunteer coach in the Bristol Pony League, with the American Legion and Forestville Little League.
He coached softball at Plainville High and girls soccer at Bristol Eastern combining for more than 450 wins over 24 years. His softball teams won league titles in 1982, 1983, 1994, 1995, 2001 and 2002.
