Induction Class Of 2014

Back To Inductee List

Roger Godbout may best be remembered as a longtime Bristol Boys Club member and advocate who loved playing and officiating sports of all kinds. He played basketball in his younger days for the Bristol Boys Club, St. Ann’s  and St. Stan’s in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s, leading several championship teams in scoring. In the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne, he was awarded a watch that was inscribed “Best Athlete of Company B, Fort Bragg”

Later, he bowled, golfed and played softball. He coached Little League baseball and pitched an exhibition game at Page Park against The King and His Court, a highly-talented traveling four-man team that rarely lost.  He was a slow pitch softball umpire for many years and was honored as a basketball referee for 34 years at the Bristol Boys Club. No matter how big or good a player was, Roger more than stood his ground with his commitment to keep the games he officiated properly supervised.
