A three-sport athlete at Bristol Eastern, she graduated from the school in 1992.
She was team captain in volleyball as a senior and was awarded All-State honors that season, leading Eastern to the volleyball state championship. In basketball, she was on state title-winning teams in both 1990 and 1991 and was chosen All-State and team captain in 1992.
She averaged 22.3 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior, a season shortened due to an injury. Softball was her third sport, and as in volleyball and basketball, she earned all-conference honors and served as captain her senior year.
She went on to Bentley College on a basketball scholarship, becoming an all-conference second team player for the 1994-1995 season. She scored 1,099 points at Bentley, where she is 14th on the all-time scoring list. She added 529 rebounds and 340 assists. Bentley had a 104-25 record during her four years there. She and her teammates made two Div. II Final Four appearances, and one at the Elite Eight.
