Prior to high school at Bristol Central, Wendy Guite was named Athlete of the Year at Memorial Boulevard School in 1974 and also received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in both 1973 and 1974. She was a standout in track and field at that level where she won 16 first place ribbons in the annual Grammar School Meet, five ribbons for second place and four for third place.
She went on to graduate from Bristol Central in 1978, where she took part in four different sports: field hockey, softball, basketball and tennis, earning a total of 11 varsity letters.
A member of some of Central’s first female varsity athletic teams, she won all-conference honors in basketball four times and was All-State her junior and senior years and All-American in 1977. She won one letter in softball, three in field hockey and four in basketball. She once held the school girls’ basketball record with 901 points, a mark that stood for 11 years.
Following college, she played for the Greenwich Women’s Soccer Team starting in 1981, serving as captain between 1986 and 1996.Watch The Video
