In 1999, a former player in the Forestville Little League, Joey McGinn passed away at a young age after fighting a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. Using memorial contributions given to the league in Joey’s memory, the Forestville Little League established the Joey McGinn Sportsmanship Award the same year.
This award is presently annually to one baseball player and one softball player who exemplifies the best sportsmanship during the year, on and off the field.
